Also seeking to meet nice nonreligious people (male or female) for genuine friendship Hello and a most warm welcome to you. My name is Danny and I live in Erith, DA8, Kent/London. Formerly a Christian and Jehovah's Witness, I am an atheist and nonreligious. I have a questioning nature and dont believe everything I here. I try to be a warm and liberal persona and I dont like conflict. I pride myself on straight up honesty. Having dated girlfriends who are religious and enduring the usual "your denying God", "but seriously, you need to go away and pray", "I am going to pray for you", "you have no right to criticise religion", "your unspiritual", "are you the antichrist?" and all the other nonsensical remarks, I reflect that its more constructive to date a nonreligious person - someone likeminded. I dont loath religious people, I just dont want to hear religious nonsense. As for God, well I no longer believe in one. Unless evidence for His existence is provided why ought I believe in Him? Even if evidence for God was discovered, I would be reluctant to trust or follow Him, as his existence would raise serious questions. Like why does He allow poverty? se---lly transmitted diseases? Child prostitution? Warfare? Homelessness? Natural disasters like hurricanes and volcanic eruptions? Animals to hunt one another just to survive, and especially in the blood thirsty way they do? Absurd religious dogma which keeps people in ignorance and fear? People to suffer disability, illness, depression? Child abuse? Rape? The list is endless. While it may be nice if a Divine Creator did exist - one who happened to be wholesome - I just cant believe any such notion unless dependable evidence was found for His existence. My years of personal inside experience of religion, and endless study of its history, has shown me that religion is deceiving, baseless, hateful, biased, unscientific, based on fear and propaganda. While I recognise that theres some good in religion, as a whole I consider it to be the foremost barrier to humankinds aspiration and necessitate to develope.
