Atheist looking for friends Hi,
In my preteens I became agnostic though I never called yself that because I didn't know that's what I was at the time lol. I always asked a lot of questions about my catholic upbringing but never got answers that made sense. I was scolded for asking questions and it seemed like everytime I asked someone how we came to be I got different answers, from corn to Adams rib to clay and back to dirt. I quit asking questions and instead focused on science because atleast there they had answers that made more sense to me than the bible.
My grandma is a jehovas witness and I remember asking why she didn't like my mom and it was because she said my mom was going to he'll for believing in the wrong prophet or something. That's when I realized not everyone can be right about religion and it really just leads to hatred if they don't believe in what someone else believes. As I grew older and older I saw how people take advantage of people over and over again. They make them feel bad if they don't give money to the church and they make them confess over silly things that make us human and instead of learning from them they continue doing it and say oh Its ok if I repent. I was in foster care my teenage years and there I got to experience different religions. I remember going to bible study because if you didn't you had to stay back in our rooms and clean while everyone else got to go outside, to me it felt like a punishment. I was often asked to leave because I asked questions and I would bring up other religions point of view. After a while I decided to stay back and read my chemistry books and listen to music which made more sense to me than the stories they told. Yet I didn't know I what an atheist was until I met my friend Ryan who introduced me to Steven pinker, Sam harris, and Richard Dawkins. I knew that religion wasn't the answer but until the time I read those books I hadn't realized how wrong and mindless it really was. I believe in science and morality.
