My spiritual views are very complex. My beliefs have been influenced by hard science, social science, eastern and western philosophy, psychology and -- ironically enough -- the spiritual teachings that form the core of all 12 step programs. My beliefs are very similar in many ways to those of Carl Sagan -- that god is the one who created the rules that created physics and chemistry, that enable biology, allow evolution, facilitate thought and thus the discovery of the very same rules. Like the trinity -- god is both the set of the rules and the creator of said rules, ... they are one in the same. They are immutable, neccissary for existence and are in effect the only true manifestation of existence -- everything else is simply a transient happenstance that is enabled by the underlying rules. To live according to the will of god is to live in harmony with the basic rules -- physical or philosophical -- and to live in dischord is to stand against god. There is no *god*. Only rules.
