Theories Are Not Facts!

All this stuff about intelligent design, creationism, the big bang theory... really, who the hell knows how it all began and what difference does it make who is right? All I believe is, that life is the here and now - your life is this exact moment, not yesterday and not tomorrow, that's all we know because that is all we have, the present moment. I have a fleeting interest in time travel, but I think there is a reason why we cannot go back or forward in time - because we are not supposed to. That could mean this whole life experience was 'designed' by a higher being... but it isn't a fact. Who really knows how we got here? Let the archaeologists try to figure it all out...

I agree with you. We ought to spend time exploring the world, knowing our friends, understand other humans. However, the ID people have an agenda that could affect the here and now, and that's why we need to fight it.

I wish I didn't and could spend more time building relationships. I find humans fascinating. Each of us has so much to teach us because of our differences.

These theories, though not facts, are to give us perspective of life. We can't proceed if we don't know where we were, and were we are heading or should head. These theories are like the maps that teach us we are going somewhere not turning in circles or heading to nothing. They are the bigger picture without which people can't feel safe and have the choice to concentrate on the here and now. This is what I believe.

`Evolution is just as established in the scientific community as the THEORY of relativity. e=mc2 is fact, so is evolution.
You can make arguments on absolute knowledge, but I do not define fact as a claim to absolute knowledge.

`A "scientific theory" explains the factual demonstrable evidence. The word "theory" in science does not mean the same thing as "theory" in common usage.

The theory of evolution is just as grounded in demonstrable, repeatable, testable, empirical facts as the theory of gravity, theory of relativity and germ theory. The reason we do not believe rainbows are magic is the same reason we no longer believe Thor throws thunderbolts and the flu is a demonic possession; it's because we have scientific explanations (aka theories) based on the observable, testable and demonstrable evidence.
