I am a former believing Mormon. I have lived in Utah for the majority of my life. The only times I lived outside of Utah was during my proselytizing LDS mission to Maryland/Virginia and education in Idaho.

I received a Bachelor of Musical Arts from BYU-Idaho. I was basically a music composition major. I loved performing music, learning how to play different instruments, learning music theory/ear training, writing music, having it performed, playing in other students' works.

All throughout middle and high school, I was a trombone player. It wasn't until high school that I started to branch out into other instruments. However, I became addicted to drumming. I fell in love with marching percussion and loved every aspect of it. So I went into college as a percussionist.

Also, throughout my education, I became interested in science in general, and more specifically psychology, which became my secondary area of study. My fascination caused me to want to know how science and religion could be reconciled. The more I questioned, the more I realized how irreconcilable they were.

One course I took called Culture and Gender really helped me consider other people's beliefs to be as legitimate as mine.

I find it ironic that my education at a church school was what contributed, even initiated my path to disbelief.

I also have had some LGBT friends in the past which has allowed me to see people of different s----l orientations as completely normal people, which I greatly appreciate.

Nowadays, I have acquired a more philosophical approach to theology and epistemology, and like to read about it and listen to debates regarding it.

My disaffection from my religion has put me in sort of a standstill at this point in my life. It's taking a lot of effort to figure out what direction I want to take and what it is I really care about and believe in.

So yeah. Not sure if this was all TMI but there it is.
