Me: Army brat 'til 3rd grade; spent last 2 years in Panama. Pretty typical small-town childhood after that. Raised Episcopalian (inc. alter boy); wrestled at summer camp & in high school. Always been a tinkerer--taking things apart & wiring up stuff. BS in mechanical engineering from Rose-Hulman; worked for Amoco in Chicago. Did sailboat crewing, voice & guitar lessons, & scuba, inc. amazing trips to Truk/Palau & Galapagos. I take pictures above & below water. Didn't want to be a engineer forever so got MBA at Kellogg & took a management development position that took me to Long Island, Seattle, &...Joplin. Left company for high school sweetheart (& eventual wife). Dad, retiring from teaching, encouraged me to look into it and I've been teaching under/grad business since. Now a little burned out with university life I'm retiring in 2015 & looking for new things to do & new places to visit. I have been active in secular causes--a founder of both Joplin Freethinkers & Secular Student Alliance (SSA@MSSU). Now playing in a band (bass & vocals) and having a blast. I have one amazing daughter--graphic design major at Mizzou. I'm socially liberal; fiscally conservative.
You: I am looking for someone who is tolerant, intelligent, kind when warranted but not a pushover, and knows what is right and stands up for it. I am not looking for "shoppers" or those who are overconcerned with their looks. I am as down-to-earth as they come and no slave to fashion. My partner should be financially secure, want to travel, and must be open to new things and new experiences. I have a long bucket list. I'm looking for someone relatively close for companionship and socializing, but if the fit is right, I will travel the world. To summarize, I want a friend, companion, and lover with the wisdom and intellect to challenge me and inspire me.
