Been an Atheist since '98. I feel confident that humanity invented god, not the other way around. My studies have lead me to understand, not just believe, that religion has been around since not long after humanity became self aware and that it's been split and plagiarized over and over again since it's beginings. I describe religion, not as Marx did, an opiate of the masses, but as the original and still champion placebo. It can bring solace through distraction, but no actual abatement of pain, suffering, or death of which the pious so desperately prey to eliminate as they obstinately cling to the conviction that prayer will rid suffering and bridge death to a fanciful eternity!
