Been around the block a few times I am a couple years out of a very long marriage - I've dated on and off over the last year but getting out and meeting new people is kind of hard with kids and career, so I figured it might be time to finally bite the bullet and sign up for a dating site.

So, about myself: I have four beautiful kids who live with their mom a couple hours away. I have them part time, though not nearly as often as I'd like. I work for a large software firm in product management, and I travel down to San Francisco pretty frequently.

I love to cook, drink, and engage in deep, thoughtful discussion on topics as varied as world politics, philosophy, science, art, music, and fart jokes. With four kids, at a certain point part of your brain is solely dedicated to fart jokes. I think it's the part of my brain that used to harbor an appreciation of Nietzsche, so no great loss there.

I also enjoy volunteering, going to the museum, watching movies, going to see live music (my musical tastes run about as widely as they possibly could), finding new dive bars, and playing ukulele. I have lived in Oregon since 1993, and grew up in Northern California.

I'm looking for someone first and foremost with whom I can enjoy deep conversation, who is intellectually stimulating, witty, and confident, and who doesn't shy away from potential conflict, but knows how to be respectful and empathetic when tensions arise. I've been dating long enough to know that folks my age have complicated lives, and sometimes conflict arises; I'd rather be with someone who can deal with tension upfront and agree to disagree rather than pretend that everything's fine.

As for looks - I don't have a particular "type", aside from someone who's confident with herself. There's a certain je ne sais quoi about attraction - it's either there or it's not.
