Life's too short to spend it with someone you have little in common with. But before I scare you away -- I'm interested in LOTS of things. People, places, culture, travel. I'm a major history buff. I'm fascinated with nature and animals, wild or otherwise. (That's my dog, Roody, in the photo section. And, yes, he's actually that cute.)


Over the last 30 years I've worked in various creative capacities (directing, writing, producing) in and around the entertainment and performing arts. So far, I have managed to make a living at it, which is good, since it's fair to say I have no other marketable skills.


I love the water. Swimming, snorkeling and especially scuba diving. I've dived many of the great spots in this hemisphere, hope to add Costa Rica, Belize, the South Pacific, Australia to the list, and would love a companion and "dive buddy".


Over the years, I've traveled all over the world but have a long list of places I still want to visit. When I travel I'm there to explore and be intellectually and physically stimulated, preferably at the same time. If that means hiking or kayaking or biking or sailing (and I'm pretty sure I won't die or be maimed in the attempt) so much the better.


The performing arts, especially music, play a large part in my personal and professional life. I love music of all kinds -- classical to opera to pop, jazz, R&B (Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan, Capital-era Sinatra). I am a musician myself, and enjoy performing in public when the opportunity arises.


I'm the proud father of a 13 year old daughter who also happens to be one of the nicest people I know. She's intelligent, perceptive, compassionate, with a wonderful sense of humor -- and I like to think there's some genetic explanation for this.


When it comes to exercise and physical fitness, I'm no hard-body, but I enjoy a physical challenge and can hold my own on a volleyball court, bowling alley or (if suitably inebriated) dance floor.
