I was raised Mormon and had a crisis of faith during my Master's degree, precipitated mostly by social concerns. But it led me to evaluate my "spiritual" experiences critically and also begin asking questions about the teachings. Before long I knew it was all false. As an evolutionary biologist I saw clarity and meaning in evolution and science and that has become my new foundation. I still see value in what society has created, although I am an idealist and envision a better world.
