If religion was mandatory in our society (as in, you had to have a religious view or you would be executed or jailed), I would go with paganism. Because that is a very vague term, it can be used to express belief in several gods at once or it can also just mean that you believe in SOMETHING out there in the universe. I think it can also denote a belief in mythical creatures, like fairies and dragons and trolls, and those little green men that supposedly live in outer space.

It may not be mandatory, but it is de facto mandatory. That's why most atheist do not admit themselves as such. That's something I hope to change.
As for paganism, of course a lot of Christian myths are based on pagan myths long ago.
