My journey toward atheism has been a journey of curiosity, questioning, courage, and personal freedom. I grew up in a society where religion is deeply woven into everyday life. Like many people in Malawi, I was surrounded by religious teachings, traditions, prayers, and expectations from an early age. For a long time, I accepted many of these ideas because they were simply part of the environment in which I lived.

As I grew older, however, I became increasingly interested in asking questions rather than simply accepting answers. I started asking myself why different religions make different claims about God, why people believe what they believe, and how we can distinguish between faith, tradition, culture, personal experience, and evidence.

Those questions changed the way I see the world.

Eventually, I came to identify as an atheist. For me, atheism is not about hating religious people or attacking someone's faith. It is about being honest about what I personally believe and what I do not have sufficient evidence to believe. I respect people's freedom to follow a religion, just as I expect others to respect my freedom not to follow one.

My connection with the atheist community comes from this shared commitment to questioning, critical thinking, intellectual freedom, and honest conversation. I appreciate being around people who can discuss difficult subjects without immediately becoming hostile or trying to convert one another. I enjoy conversations about philosophy, science, morality, human existence, consciousness, the universe, relationships, and the big questions that human beings have asked throughout history.
